Holiday Squiggles are fun to make and can be coordinated for almost every holiday season!

Age groups from preschool to high school will enjoy this creative craft.

Items needed for each artwork piece:

2 - 3 pieces of string or yarn 2 to 3 feet in length

11 by 14 white art paper

liquid washable paints

Keep your workspace clean and tidy by either placing newspaper or a plastic tablecloth on the workspace.

This will make for an easy clean-up when you are done.

Fold your art paper in half either lengthwise or widthwise.

Stir the liquid washable paint.  Put the string or yarn in the paint, thoroughly covering it except for the 2 -3 inches you are holding in your hand.  The string or yarn will be covered with the paint like a wet piece of spaghetti.

Carefully bring the paint string and lay it creatively on the lower 1/2 of your art paper, leaving the clean 2 - 3 inches off the edge of the paper.  Refold the art paper, so the painted string is in the middle of the two sides of the art paper. 

Keeping the art paper folded in half, gently remove the paint string .  Your artistic design will be on both halves of the folded paper for a duplicate design.

Repeat with another color of paint.

When completed, keep open and let this piece of art dry.

What does it look like?  It will be something beautiful, perhaps a butterfly, a heart, fireworks, an angel, or just use your imagination.

Color choices for the corresponding holiday:

Valentine's Day - use red, pink, and white paint.

St. Patrick's Day - use green and white paint

Easter - use pink, blue, and yellow paint

Mother's Day - use pink, blue, and white paint

Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day - use red, white, and blue paint

Halloween - use orange and black paint

Thanksgiving - use orange, red, and green paint

Christmas - use red, green, and white paint

New Year's Day - use blue and white paint
