What you need:
Pen
Paint brush
Scissors
1 paper plate
1 red pipe cleaner
1 Sheet of brown felt
2 Handfuls of yellow shredded tissue paper
2 large pearly white buttons (Regular white is okay but the pearly ones look better!)
2 Small blue or black buttons
1 piece of 2 x 2 1/2" Orange fun foam (You can use felt or something if you don't have this)
Artificial fall leaves
White craft glue
What to do:
1. Draw a hat shape on the piece of brown felt and cut it out.
2. Cut the piece of orange fun foam into a triangle for the nose.
3. Cut off 3/4 of the pipe cleaner.
4. Set everything out how you want it to look befre gluing it. Arrange the hair on either side of the head and place the hat on top. Arrange the buttons for eyes, the orange fun foam triangle for the nose, the leaf on the hat and the pipe cleaner piece for the mouth.
5. Take off the hat and the hair and se tit aside. Spread glue with the paintbrush on either side of the paper plate underneath the "hair" and press it back into place.
6. Lift up the pearl buttons, spread a generous amount of glue underneath and press the buttons back into place. Spread a small amount of glue on the flat side of the small buttons and press them to the large buttons one at a time, holding them in place briefly so they don't shift.
7. Spread glue on the back of the orange fun foam triangle and press it back into the predetermined place.
8. Bend the ends of the piece of pipe cleaner like you see in the photo; spread glue on one side and press the pipe cleaner back down to the paper plate. Hold the pipe cleaner in place briefly until secure. Because the pipe cleaner is so stiff it may not lay flat so you can try to add more glue (which may or may not work) or just glue it on at a few points and it will be more dimensional.
9. Spread a bit of glue on the back of the fall leaf and press it to the center of the hat.
10. Let the glue on the scarecrow face dry completely before displaying.
